Title: Aspects of the half-filled Landau level
Abstract: The integer quantum Hall to insulator transition at the half-filled Landau level is a paradigmatic quantum critical point in two-dimensions. Many aspects of this problem have remained theoretically unsolved even though a vast amount of literature has been devoted to it. In this talk, I will provide a new composite-fermion perspective to this transition. Building up from a mean-field theory, I will show how various experimental observations such as particle-hole symmetry, the universal resistivity, dynamical scaling and superuniversality of QH transitions may be obtained in this framework.
