25th Annual Bill Fairbank Memorial Run/Walk/Bike
Professor Bob Wagoner and the Stanford Physics Department invite you to participate in the 25th annual Bill Fairbank Memorial Run/Walk/Bike on Saturday, March 8, 2014. This annual event is in honor of the late Prof. Fairbank, an avid runner who was a professor of Physics at Stanford from 1959 until his death in 1989. The race is scheduled to begin promptly at 12:00 and should be over by about 1:30pm. Participants sign in starts at 11:30am. The race will begin and end at the Rodin Sculpture Garden (at Roth Way and Lomita Drive), and you can employ the 4.2 mile Campus Drive loop for the runners and walkers. The bikers can use the 11.5 mile Old Page Mill Rd.- Arastradero Rd.- Alpine Rd. loop (clockwise is safest). Maps will be provided.
As in previous years, the winner will be the runner, walker, or biker whose actual time is fractionally closest to his or her predicted time (over any route you choose). There will be volunteers recording participants' times. The event is open and free of charge to all interested people. The winner's name will appear on a plaque displayed in the Physics Department. To participate in this event, you must sign the attached waiver; please print, sign and bring with you. (Also see the attached poster for more information.)
