The Physics Department announces the eleventh annual Bill Fairbank Memorial Run/Walk/Bike on Saturday, February 26, 2000. This event is in honor of the late Professor William Fairbank, an avid runner who was a professor of Physics at Stanford in 1959 until his death in 1989. The race is organized by Professor Bob Wagoner of the Physics Department, and Professor Fairbank's widow, Jane Fairbank. It is scheduled to begin at noon and should be over by 1:30. The route will be the 4.1 mile Campus Drive loop, beginning and ending at Angell Field, located between Campus Drive and Stanford Stadium.

As in previous years, the winner will be the runner, bicyclist or walker whose actual time is fractionally closest to his or her predicted time. There will be volunteers recording participants' time. The event is open and free of charge to all interested people. Refreshments will be provided by Bon Appetit.

The winner's name will appear on a plaque displayed in the Physics Department. All participants who complete the race will receive a certificate noting their time. Friends and family are welcome to participate in this fun event. Please make a note of the date and join us!
