Qualifying Exam

The Qualifying Exam consists of an oral exam taken in the second year, typically in the Fall or Winter quarter. The student will make a presentation about a recent development or paper in an area of research interest to the student to a faculty exam committee. Exhibiting command of the material by answering questions from the committee about the relevant physics will be required.
